Rare-earth-doped luminescent nanoparticles have attracted considerable interest due to their optical properties and potential applications in bioimaging, sensing, optoelectronics, and photodynamic therapy. Among these materials, citrate-stabilized YVO₄ nanoparticles exhibit excellent dispersibility in aqueous media but show limited compatibility with organic environments and a tendency to aggregate, which restricts their integration into hybrid nanostructures and multifunctional systems. This project aims to expand the applicability of these nanoparticles through surface functionalization via ligand exchange, replacing citrate with organic ligands to facilitate their transfer into non-polar media. The study also seeks to evaluate how surface modification influences the physicochemical and optical properties of the nanoparticles while preserving their luminescent performance. By improving compatibility with organic media, this work contributes to the development of multifunctional supraparticles.
