Abstract

Sensitization of lanthanide luminescence through appended ligands allows designing compounds for specific applications. We will present work that we have done on complexes as emitters for lighting applications, biocompatible complexes for bioimaging applications, compounds that generate cytotoxic singlet oxygen, and compounds that report, on the nanoscale and through light emission, on temperature and viscosity.
