Abstract

This work presents dppz-pda, a derivative of dipyridophenazine, with an appended diaminobenzene substituent at C11. It was designed to overcome weak electronic communication in standard dppz complexes. The compound was studied by spectroscopic and electrochemical methods, and it shows enhanced electronic delocalization and sensitivity to its environment through hydrogen bonding, making it a promising synthetic colorimetric sensor for DNA/RNA probing and a metallointercalator candidate.
