Abstract

Uranyl complexes containing N₂O₂ Schiff-base ligands are promising materials for electrochemical applications due to their structural and electronic properties. In this work, the hydrated complex [UO₂(salophen)(H₂O)₂]·3H₂O was synthesized and characterized by CHN analysis, FTIR, and ¹H/¹³C NMR spectroscopy. Elemental analysis yielded 41.11% C, 5.08% N, and 3.70% H for the complex, supporting its formation. Spectroscopic data confirmed the coordination of the salophen ligand to the UO₂²⁺ center. A carbon paste electrode modified with graphite powder, Nujol, and the complex (75:15:10 wt%) was prepared and evaluated by cyclic voltammetry using K₃[Fe(CN)₆] in 0.5 mol L⁻¹ H₂SO₄. The obtained results demonstrated suitable electrochemical behavior, indicating potential for electroanalytical and electrocatalytic applications.
