Detection of Dengue Nonstructural Protein 1 Using Antibody-Functionalized Gold Nanoparticles and Dynamic Light Scattering

Abstract

This work presents the development of a gold nanoparticle (AuNPs)-based nanobiosensor for the detection of the dengue virus nonstructural protein 1 (NS1), a key biomarker for early diagnosis. The proposed platform combines surface-functionalized AuNPs with anti-NS1 polyclonal antibodies to enable selective target recognition. Physicochemical characterization confirmed the surface modification of the nanoparticles, while preliminary immunoassays showed a measurable response toward NS1. In addition, selectivity assays revealed that dengue NS1 was the only viral protein to produce a positive ΔDH response. These results highlight the potential of this platform as a promising strategy for the development of rapid and selective diagnostic tools for dengue.
