Trivalent lanthanide ions (Ln3+) complexes with chiral ligands are widely studied to achieve circularly polarized luminescence (CPL). CPL is the spontaneous emission of right- and left-handed circularly polarized light, and the difference between these emission intensities constitutes the CPL spectrum. However, one the biggest obstacle in these complexes is to achieve high values of dissymmetry factor (glum) alongside with high values of emission quantum yields for practical applicability. Trying to achieve this goal, this research studied the luminescence and the CPL of anionic tetrakis complexes of Eu(III) with high quantum yield with cationic chiral quaternary ammonium to induce chirality in the metal center of the complex.
