Abstract

Dithiocarbazates are versatile Schiff base ligands with remarkable coordination ability and promising biological applications. In this work, a new dithiocarbazate ligand (HL) and its copper(II) complex, [Cu(L)2], were synthesized and characterized by 1H NMR, FT-IR, and HR-ESI-MS. The spectroscopic data confirmed the successful formation of the ligand and its coordination to the Cu(II) center through the NNS donor system, as evidenced by the characteristic NMR signals, shifts in the FT-IR bands, and agreement between the experimental and calculated mass spectra. These findings provide a structural basis for ongoing single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies and future investigations of the antibacterial, antifungal, and anticancer activities of these compounds
