Analysis of Pyriproxyfen by chromatographic techniques (CLAE, GC-MS)

Favorite this paper

The pyriproxyfen is a carbamate compound belonging to the chemical group pyridyloxypropyl ether, in its composition there is sand of volcanic origin (pumice stone), it is a larvicida used in pest control and drinking water assessment. However, biological and chemical studies of this larvicida are still recent, so this work aims to make its identification through chromatographic techniques (CLAE, GC-MS). At CLAE (High performance liquid chromatography), was solubilized Rock in acetonitrile-methanol (80:20), injected into a Shimadzu analytical liquid chromatograph, model LC20A, with UV detector, with isocratic method, C18 column (250 x 4.6 mm, particle size 5 µm). The GC-MS (Gas chromatography coupled to a mass spectrometry) was conducted with a capillary column RTX-5MS, model TQ8030 (length 30m, 0, 25mm ID., DF 0.25 µm), coupled to a mass spectrometer, in which was injected 10 µL of sample, splitless mode injection. The screening of pyriproxyfen by CLAE in absorption λmax of 254 nm, it was possible to check the presence of two intense peaks with retention times 3,39min and 4,04min, corresponding to the wavelengths Λmax 271 nm and 208 nm of the UV spectrum, respectively. In the sample gas chromatography presented a peak with retention time of 12,5min corresponding to the fragment of m/z 136, this by possessing greater intensity was characterized as peak-base, where it was observed the loss of the fragment [C12H9O2], due to the rupture of the C-O connection. Therefore, the analysis of pyriproxyfen by CLAE and GC-MS allowed the identification of the compound.
