Understanding the interaction between the myrtle rust (Austropuccinia psidii) and the Syzygium jambos host through metabolomic analysis

The aim of this study was to investigate the interaction between the phytopathogenic fungus A. psidii and the S. jambos host through targeted metabolomics analysis using GC-MS. Results indicate that in infected plants there was accumulation of metabolites from the sesquiterpenoid and triterpenoid biosynthesis pathway with signaling and antimicrobial functions.
