Phenanthrenoid from the Brazilian orchid Cattleya intermedia

The Orchidaceae family is considered the largest and the most evolved family of the Angiosperm order, currently containing 30,000 species distributed between 750-900 genera, among them Cattleya Lindl. From this family, specialized metabolites can be isolated, such as phenanthrenes, flavonoids, and stilbenes, possessing interesting antioxidant, antitumor, and anti-inflammatory activities.
