Healthcare-associated infections (HAI) have become an issue of growing concern in public health. The genus Acinetobacter spp and Pseudomonas spp are the most common agents associated with multidrug-resistance and is equally associated with the susceptibility in causing outbreaks. In this way, a literature review based on original and review articles, books, reports and meta-analyzes previously published between 1980 and 2017 was carried out, presenting reports of HAI in Brazil and world regions by Acinetobacter spp and Pseudomonas spp. With the obtained data, a timeline with historical-evolutionary character of the genus Acinetobacter spp and Pseudomonas spp was elaborated. A total of 117 articles were obtained, where 42 articles were related to Pseudomonas spp, 58 related to Acinetobacter spp and 17 to public health reports. Between the 117 bibliographies, 65 articles (65/117 – 55.5%) were classified as worldwide, which 35 articles (35/65 – 54%) were associated to Acinetobacter spp, 21 articles (21/65 – 32.3%) to Pseudomonas spp and nine public health reports (09/65 – 13,7%). For the classification of the national data, 52 bibliographies (52/117 – 44.5%) were selected, where 23 articles (23/52 – 44.2%) were related to Acinetobacter spp, 21 articles (21/52 – 40.3%) to Pseudomonas spp and eight (08/52 – 15.5%) were from articles and public health reports. Of the 23 articles related to Acinetobacter spp in Brazil, 12 articles (12/23 – 52%) were published in the Southeast region, five (05/23 – 21.7%) from South region and three articles (03/23 - 13%) were published in Northeast region as in Center-West region. Of the 21 national articles of Pseudomonas spp in Brazil, 12 articles (12/21 – 57%) were published in the Southeast region, four (04/21 - 19%) were published in South region, three articles (03/21 – 14.5%) in Northeast region and two (02/21 – 9,5%) in the Central-West region.
