The XVI World Congress of Food Science and Technology of IUFoST took place in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, between 5-9 August 2012. Held since 1962, the event gathered more than 3000 people, among them the world's leading authorities in Food Science.


The main theme was “Addressing global food security and wellness through Food Science and Technology. The Congress addressed the global and current problems of food, discussed possible solutions and promoted collaboration and exchange of ideas between the Academia and private and public sectors.


During the five days of events, more than 50 sessions took place. They were technical sessions, symposia and panel discussions, roundtables, forums for undergraduated and graduate students and meetings of international projects.
