Resumo

The objective of this study was to evaluate the bacterial diversity in the solid fraction of the ruminal content, through the gene sequences of the conserved region of the 16S rDNA gene, in response to diets containing oleaginous (canola, cottonseed, sunflower, soybean), bulky (corn silage) and a standard diet provided to cattle. Six crossbred steers, castrated male, rumen fistulated, with a mean weight of 416.33 ± 93.30 kg distributed in 6x6 Latin Square were used. A total of 2,536,247 DNA sequences were generated for the Bacteria domain. The bacterial diversity was composed of 24 bacterial phyla, the most abundant being Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes and Proteobacteria. There is 50% similarity in the bacterial community independent of the diet used. Feeding with the oilseeds presented a great diversity of bacteria from the phyla Bacteroidetes and Proteobacteria; feeding with silage showed a great diversity of bacteria of the Firmicutes phylum.
