Resumo

Lactatemia and glycaemia are influenced by diet and are good physical conditioning indicators. Considering mineral and vitamin importance, this study evaluated the effect of different mineral sources addition with or without vitamins on glycaemia and lactatemia of horses in medium intensity aerobic activity. Eight geldings, Arabian, ±9 years old, 465,18±33,48 kg, were randomly divided into 4 groups. Experimental design was change-over with factorial arrange 2x2 and repeated measures in time. Treatments were: 1) Carboaminophosphochelate minerals with vitamins (CAF+), 2) Carboaminophosphochelate minerals without vitamins (CAF-), 3) Inorganic minerals with vitamins (I+), 4) Inorganic minerals without vitamins (I-). Data was analyzed by Statistical Analysis System program with PROC MIXED. Significant level was 5%. Type of mineral did not influence glycaemia, however vitamins lead to a glycose reduction on day 30. Lactate had an ascendant curve after exercise and was lower in groups CAF+ and CAF-. Vitamins reduced
lactate in group I+ compared to I-. Therefore, organic minerals and vitamins addition to diet can improve aerobic efficiency in horses.
