The body is, itself, a living archive that allows us to find memories, marks of resistance of an organism which is embodied, embeddedness and has an extended mind. This organism is a result of a process in which the body is inseparable from its mind and the perception is linked to its own action (enaction). We are dynamic organisms constantly rediscovering our world and ourselves. My studies, analyzes and reflections of the dance are sheltered and grounded by this understanding: that of a situated body (by the bias of the Situated Cognition). We are dynamic organisms constantly rediscovering our world and ourselves. My studies, analyzes and reflections of the dance are sheltered and grounded by this understanding: that of a situated body (by the bias of the Situated Cognition). That’s why the information with which you deal in your environment penetrates and remains in the body. The discussion will be delimited in the field I define as “expanded dance”, which uses technological mediation to expand its corporal, artistic, aesthetic and, as will be argued, conceptual possibilities. It is interesting to discuss the digital culture, the contemporary world, the information society, which are the faces of a context through which emerged the expanded dance. Memory, endurance and permanence will be approached as much by the analysis of the body of the artist as of the body of the city. Such contexts are intertwined and contaminate each other in an uninterrupted flow. In this sense, the proposal is to understand that this expanded dance is a reflection of this digital culture as well as a “strange tool” (as the philosopher Alva Noë says about the potential of the Arts) that can stimulate another way of perceiving, acting and understanding the world around us. Two works will be presented to discuss this body-organism relationship with the city-organism: the Gretas do Tempo (Gaps of Time) project, held in 2014 with the Ballet Teatro Castro Alves, and Reentrâncias (2017). “Penetrate-cityness” is a neologism to argue about the right to live our town, to occupy it without limits, to resist the problems of violence, insecurity and contemporary chaos. These positions are at the basis of the conception of the artistic works in question, which through expanded dance propose an urban occupation and not an intervention whose synonym could be interference, interposition or intrusion. “Penetrate-cityness” is a possibility of rediscovering the city and not interfering with it. Finally, the potential of new technologies as positive devices and aggregators will be punctuated to deal with the main terms of this reflection, namely: body, memory, resistance, permanence and city.
