Proceedings of 29th International Congress on Waterborne Transportation, Shipbuilding and Offshore Constructions

The Brazilian Society of Naval Engineering (SOBENA) will hold the 29th International Congress on Waterway Transport, Shipbuilding and Offshore on October 25, 26 and 27, 2022 in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This year, SOBENA will adopt a hybrid format to increase the reach of the event and allow participants from other regions to participate remotely, if necessary.

The main objective of the Congress is to promote the dissemination of research and works applied to the development of the naval, waterway and offshore sector. The event will have sessions with presentations of technical papers, guest lectures and panels with debates on relevant current topics related to the following thematic axes:

• Ports and waterways
• Cargo and passenger transport
• Logistic systems
• Design (including energy efficiency and decarbonization)
• Construction and commissioning
• Integrity management and life extension (including inspection and maintenance)
• Decommissioning/dismantling
• Marine environment
• Renewable energies
• Digitization and artificial intelligence

The SOBENA Congress is the ideal forum for researchers, engineers, managers, technicians and students from the academic and industrial communities, the Brazilian Navy and government agencies.

In the year that SOBENA proudly celebrates 60 years as a reference in the sector, and considering the return of in-person events, we reinforce our invitation for an expressive participation of our technical and scientific community, aiming at the realization of a great and successful event.
