SISAL PULP POTENTIAL EVALUATION AS SUBSTRATE FOR THE BIOCOMPOUNDS PRODUCTION BY RHODOTORULA MUCILAGINOSA YEAST

Favorite this paper

This research aimed to evaluate the sisal pulp potential as a substrate in yeasts cultivation, aiming the biocompounds production. R. mucilaginosa cells were inoculated in Erlenmeyer flasks containing 100 mL of the sisal pulp hydrolyzed, supplemented with yeast extract, malt extract and peptone, incubated in a shaker for 144 h. Were obtained 7.22 g.L-1 of biomass in 120 h after the inoculation and the growth kinetics parameters: PX: 0.057 g.L-1.h-1, µmax: 0.1541 h-1, Tg: 4.5 h and YX/S: 0.96 g.g-1. The sisal pulp showed up be a potential substrate for the yeast R. mucilaginosa cultivation due to the biomass production and the substrate-product conversion coefficient.
