Resumo

The evolution of self-propelled forest machines in wood harvesting, associated with the diffusion of diesel engines, can result in the emission of greenhouse gases. Thus, it was analyzed whether there was an influence of different slopes on carbon emissions in the dragging activity of mechanized wood harvesting. The self-propelled forest machine analyzed was the grapple skidder, which weighted the energy yield, carbon emission and terrain slopes. Thus, the carbon emission presented higher values on slopes with smooth-wavy and flat relief. The lower emission in the wavy relief is justified because the productivity in this relief has been lower, since this variable is directly proportional to the carbon emission.
