About

The International Symposium on Genetics and Breeding (SIGM) is promoted by the Study Group on Genetics and breeding (GenMelhor) from the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV), Brazil. This year, the event is in its twelfth edition, consolidating itself as a traditional symposium that aims to congregate national and international researchers and experts in genetics and breeding. The XII SIGM has the theme “Digital plant breeding: selecting targets for global food security”. At the event, we will discuss the main tools considered as the most important scientific advances in the digital era of genetics and plant breeding, genomic selection, gene editing, biotechnology, precision agriculture, quantitative genetics, and artificial intelligence.

The SIGM has always been a face-to-face event held at UFV, Brazil. However, due to the current global scenario facing the COVID-19 and control strategies, the event will be held virtually. The XII SIGM will received renowned speakers from Brazil and abroad in four thematic targets: Genomics and biotechnology, perennial crop breeding, annual crop breeding, and Artificial intelligence and biometrics.
