The search for new molecular architectures to improve the efficiency of enzyme entrapped in ultrathin films has enhanced the efficiency of biosensors. 1 In this study, mixed Langmuir-Blodgett films of poly (9,9-dioctylfluorene-alt-thiophene) and urease with 9 layers were deposited on a platinum electrode to evaluate the viability of this system as a urea biosensor. The presence of the copolymer andthe immobilized enzyme in the mixed films were verified by cyclic voltammetry, as shown in the figure 1, in which was possible to note the oxidation and reduction peaks to the copolymer, 0,87 e 0,01 V, and to the immobilized enzyme, -0,02 e 0,01 V. From these results, it is possible to conclude that the LB films from the do PDOF-co-Th were satisfactorily employed as a matrix to immobilize the urease enzyme to prepare a modified electrode, which can be used to de urea amperometric detection.
