Carbono Multifuncional usado com suporte para eletrocatalisadores
Numerous material supports, such as carbon black, carbon gel, mesoporous carbon, carbon nanofibers, graphene and carbon nanotubes have been investigated and used for the manufacture of commercially available metal electrocatalysts. However, their textures, functional groups (including carbonyl, carboxyl, quinone and others) and interactions with metals in fuel cellsreactions are not completely established. In this work, multifunctional carbon as Vulcan black, graphene/graphene oxide and functionalized carbon were prepared by adequate method[1,2]. After, the platinum wasdeposited on functionalized carbon and thermally treated by synthesis with borohydride reduction and investigated in acid/methanolsolutions. Physical and electrochemical characterizations of the multifunctional materials were carried out by X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and chronoamperometry techniques. It was observed that in methanol solution, the platinum electrocatalysts on nitric acid functionalized carbon presents a better electrocatalytic activity and improves the reaction rate compared to platinum on other carbon supports.
