Abstract

Any metal-insulator transitions in a crystalline material must be a transition from a situation in which electronic bands overlap to a situation when they do not [1]. On the basis of the phenomenological theory [2], it is considered various singularities in the magnetic field for the surface tension at the metal-insulator contact. The surface tension displays also quantum magnetic oscillations at low temperatures. The consideration is applied to the Mott insulator in the magnetic field.
