: The accelerated growth of the agricultural sector in the country has caused negative impacts on land cover, which can be diagnosed by means of appropriate methodologies to measure their magnitude in a given area of space-time. In this context, the objective of this study was to analyze the evolution of the vegetation cover in the city of Anapurus - MA and its relationship with the use of the soil through the images of Landsat satellite for the recognition of the agricultural landscape site and its evolution between the years (1999-2016). The reduction of vegetation due to the advancement of areas intended for agricultural use, was as follows: wooded savanna > forest > forest savanna. In a scenario based on the intensity of the disappearance of the areas vegetated formed by dry woodland, moist forested and gallery forests for about seventeen years, it could be observed that, in about ten years, if you continue at this pace, practically the whole territory of the municipality will be busy, mostly for areas intended for agricultural use.
