Resumo

In former time, the study of physiology was mainly guided by specific organs in an independent way. However, nowadays physiological sciences are better comprehended as multi-system interaction. The interplay of several signals released by different tissues may greatly affect the function of distal organs. This interaction occurs under healthy condition but at disease it may elucidate fundamental inter organs communication which may help to understand the pathophysiological context. There are several examples that may reinforce those interactions. For instance, after acute brain injury, distal organs may present decreased function that is not explained by others causes. During this lecture, the pathophysiological mechanism after acute ischemic stroke and how potential therapies may work toward resolution will be shown. The implication of this lecture is to demonstrate that the study of physiological science is integrative among different organs instead of independent view of specific organ.
