Abstract

Based on Pierre Bourdieu's thoughts on the field and symbolic power, this article seeks to answer two questions: Who is interested in the fragility and discredibility of Brazilian journalism? and Is alternative journalism the "new" counter-power of the colonized media? For this, arguments will be developed that address the power (d) in journalism, evaluating the hegemonic media and the control of private interests, as well as presenting how alternative journalism faces the hegemonic media, with the intention of breaking with this model, providing a new structure by establishing other media formats.
