Abstract

Radio Timbira in São Luís is the oldest in Maranhão. It went on the air on July 15, 1941 and was created by the interventor Paulo Ramos, with the name of Rádio Difusora. On April 9, 2024, it migrated from AM (1290 Khz) to FM (95.5 Mkz) and the flagship, Jornal das Onze (Monday to Friday, from 11 am to 12 pm) was removed from the programming grid and replaced by Jornal Central (Monday to Friday, from 11:30 am to 12 pm), produced by the Central News Agency. In order to understand this transformation and inclusion of more musical and entertainment spaces, the proposal is to combine a bibliographic review (Mustafá; Brito; 2020) and compare part of the AM programming with FM (2024), available on the website, and conduct a semi-structured interview with the coordinator of Planning and Management of Radio Timbira FM, journalist Viviane Barbosa Leite.
