This text focuses on the covers of the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo about the coverage of the climate disaster underway in Rio Grande do Sul in the first month after its outbreak. We are interested in knowing how a national media outlet covered one of the most paradigmatic disasters in the country due to its extent and immediate response time, trying to identify how the relationships with the climate emergency were presented, as well as the approaches used in its cover stories. Methodologically, the text is based on some indicators for the analysis of journalistic texts on disasters, developed by Amaral, Lozano Ascencio and Puertas Cristobal (2020), and references on the coverage of climate change (Amaral, Loose and Girardi, 2020). Among the results, a change in the name of the agent causing the disaster can be observed, according to the advance of coverage.
