The article presents the results of an exploratory research with the objective of observing the characteristics of the crowdsourced fact-checking program implemented by the social network X (formerly Twitter). A quantitative and qualitative analysis revealed a high productivity of volunteer fact-checkers, who proposed 41,056 Community Notes, with publications by politicians and the media being the most common targets. A tendency was identified for participants to submit more checks against left-aligned tweets and profiles and to be concerned about issues of low influence on Brazilian daily life, such as the conflict between Israel and Palestine. In addition, a significant proportion of the scores were addressed to other collaborators of the program, generating a dialogic dynamic through which they seek to educate each other about good checking practices.
