Abstract

We seek to understand how ethnic-racial studies are approached in research in Journalism and if they occupy a place in the epistemological debates of the field. This reflection is based on the analysis of the thematic content of articles published in the Annals of the National Meeting of Researchers in Journalism of SBPJor, referring to the last decade (2013-2023), totaling a corpus of 13 articles. The investigation came to the reflection that the themes and concepts related to ethnic-racial issues and studies are still in a place of crossing, understanding themselves as a passage, a line that runs through the studies in Journalism, without yet reaching an epistemological debate or exercising a closer relationship with the area. Even so, it was found that the field has advanced from the perspective of intersectionality, emerging concepts and new categories in the most recent research in Journalism.
