ATUALIZAÇÕES TECNOLÓGICAS DE PRODUTOS DE DEFESA: USO DO MÉTODO STRATEGIC CHOICE APPROACH NA ANÁLISE E APOIO À DECISÃO.

The life cycle of Brazilian defense products is defined and managed cooperatively by the Brazilian Armed Forces (FAs) and companies of Brazilian Defense Industrial Base (BID Brasil). The challenges of keeping these products competitive require periodically updates, ensuring technological and operational readiness to the missions of both Brazilian and international armed forces. This study aims to identify possible ways to perform technological updates on defense products and which would be the most viable according to the purposes and criteria that meet the common interests of BID Brasil and the FAs. Using the SENTIR M20, a ground surveillance radar (RVT) as a case study, the Strategic Choice Approach (SCA) was applied to address these questions. The SCA was consistency for analysis and decision-making support by allowing identification of common interests of different stakeholders, prioritizing essential decision areas, and directing lines of action to execute the technological update.
