Abstract

We established an in vitro culture of Melia azedarach through micropropagation and evaluated the plantlets biosynthetic potential. LC-MS-based metabolomics was applied to generate information on natural products composition. Our findings indicate limonoid production from the nimbolinin and salannin classes and a series of phenylpropanoids. This is the first time nimbolinin-related limonoids have been produced in vitro, opening a venue for the biotechnological application of such compounds.
