“Marine or countryside?” Madrid, Washington, Brasília, and the controversies on the logic behind their placement - colonization and development of territories in a geo-history of the capitalist world-economy

This project aims to associate the logic of placing capitals (Madrid, Washington and Brasília) to the theories of system-world and the systemic cycles of accumulation by Fernand Braudel and Giovanni Arrighi, respectively. Each capital contributed to internally organize the whole territory so each country could fulfill its systemic functions in a certain period of the system-world. Up until this point, we have created a graphical modeling choreme of the internal organization of the territories from the capitals and a model for each country expressing the national typology of these territories' organization from the location of their capitals.
