About

The Conference of Computational Interdisciplinary Science (CCIS 2019) aims to be a meeting for researchers and students working in areas of science using scientific computing. It is an initiative of the Pan-American Association on Computational Interdisciplinary Sciences (PACIS: http://www.epacis.net/epacis/). Although there are other forums that discuss related topics, such as Applied Mathematics, Bioinformatics, and Computational Physics, the CCIS 2019 seeks, in an innovative way, a broader dialog, which is inherently inter- and multidisciplinary, where researchers from different areas can share their experiences and find solutions to their computational problems.

The conference program consisted of keynote lectures, contributed sessions, and tutorials on Computational Mathematics, Computational Physics and Astronomy, Computational Chemistry, Computational Biology, and computacional issues in geosciences. Topics like computational methods applied in Space and Environmental Sciences, Technology, Innovation and Economy are also in the conference scope. Contributions has focus on applications of computational methods, algorithms, numerical simulations, high-performance computing (HPC) and hybrid computing in Science and Technology.

Four lectures ("Plenary Talks") dealt on advanced numerical solution (meshfree) in computational fluid dynamics, data assimilation in ionospheric models, deep learning schemes for model order reduction, and the new version of the NCEP/NOAA weather forecasting model. Other lectures had focus on dynamics and control of vector-borne diseases, reconfigurable computing (FPGA) and its challengesc, challenges efficiency for exascale computing, and computational astronomy ("The Open Universe Initiative"). Two interesting short courses entitled "High performance GPU computing on a web browser using WebGL" and "Introduction to Uncertainty Quantification" were presented during the Conference.

CCIS 2019 was organized by the School of Physics of the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) - Atlanta (GA), USA (https://www.physics.gatech.edu/). All participants were welcome to visit the School of Physics facilities and the Georgia Tech campus during the CCIS 2019.

The CCIS 2019 was held at Georgia Tech Bobby Dodd Stadium.

Our thanks to all speakers and participants for attending this edition of the Conference of Computational Interdisciplinary Science at the Georgia Tech School of Physics (Atlanta, GA, USA) for making the conference an excellent opportunity to exchange new scientific research.
