The new trends for pet food is on the rise worldwide and has been growing more and more space, investment and consumer focus due to the large amount of pets. The search for alternatives that lead to improve the health of the pets has been increasing the frequency of the ingestion of functional foods. The objective of this work was the development of a symbiotic food supplement for dogs and cats in order to improve the health, immunity and intestinal flora of the pets. The target group was the puppies of dogs and cats at weaning, changing period for the ration. The introduction of this product into the weaning process facilitates nutrition and enhances the immunity of the puppies at this stage when they are small and fragile. Symbiotic yogurts were produce by adding the microorganisms Streptococcus thermophilus (ST), Lactobacillus bulgaricus (LB), Lactobacillus acidophilus (LA) and Bifidobacterium bifidum Bb (BB) and the prebiotics fructooligosaccharides and inulin. Two formulations were produce, one for dogs and the other for cats with omega 3 addition in this formulation. Three replicates of each formulation were carried out, pH determinations during and after the fermentation process. In the yoghurts the following were carried out: microbiological during storage at 7 ° C for 30 days, rheological for determination of k and n parameters, consistency, color and palatability with puppies of dogs and cats. The results showed that at the end of 30 days the populations were 8.8 log CFU / g (ST); 7.5 log CFU / g (LB); 6.9 log CFU / g (LA) and 7.8 log CFU / g (BB). Yogurts presented thixotropic and pseudoplastic behavior the parameters n and k for the yogurt sample for dogs were 0.3449 and 7.6541 respectively and for Cats, n and k, 0.3562 and 6.8953characteristic consistency and yellowish tonality.
