Volition in Psychopathy
Volition in Psychopathy
Psychopathy has attracted the attention of philosophers, in part because psychopaths exhibit specific impairments in moral cognition and behavior. There are however two limitations in current debates, mainly because the focus is on offender and forensic populations and on questions related to empathy and moral responsibility. In this talk, I want to call attention to the will of individuals with psychopathy, and I argue that even ‘successful’ psychopaths suffer from volitional impairments.
