Federal University of Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, Brazil
April 28th to May 1st, 2018

The International Conference Paulo Freire: The Global Legacy was organized for the very first time in Kirikiriroa (or Hamilton, name given by the European colonizers), in New Zealand, in 2012.
Our intention organizing this 2nd International Conference Paulo Freire: The Global Legacy is to continue this quite brilliant initiative of our colleagues from New Zealand, hoping the event may be held again in the coming years, in different parts of the world.

Goals

  • To hold a worldwide event in Belo Horizonte, Brazil and, more specifically, in the College of Education at Federal University of Minas Gerais (FaE/UFMG), on the icon of Brazilian Education, Paulo Freire, and the legacy his work has left to the world;
  • To encourage the presentation of and the discussion about academic papers that analyze Paulo Freire’s work or that use Freirean concepts as their main reference for the analysis of empirical research and/or theoretical essays;
  • To encourage the presentation of and the discussion about practical experiences based upon, inspired and/or influenced by Freire’s thinking;
  • To promote the exchange of ideas and experiences among critical educators around the world, seeking progressive alternatives to problems coming from their pedagogical and political practices.
