SEXUAL DIFFERENCES IN ANOXIA RESISTANCE IN TRACHEMYS SCRIPTA.

Freshwater turtles can tolerate oxygen depletion conditions, such as anoxia, by drastically lowering their metabolic rate. In the environment, these anoxic periods, which are dependent on temperature, can endure up to forty days. Despite the number of studies regarding several aspects of anoxia resistance in turtles, no research has ever explored the sexual difference of this specie with temperature-dependent sex determination, and dysmorphic between sexes.
