MUSCIMOL DERIVATIVE (MK-0605) PREVENTS ANXIETY-LIKE BEHAVIOR INDUCED BY ACUTE RESTRAIN STRESS IN BALB/C MICE

Anxiety disorder is an altered behavior which can be triggered by aversive stress events. Several studies demonstrated that acute restraint stress is able to evoke anxiety-like behavior in different animal models. It is also described that changes in the GABAergic system and production of reactive oxygen species are closely associated with generation of anxiety. In this way, the present study aimed to evaluate the effect of a derivate from muscimol (MK-0605), an agonist of GABA receptor, on the anxiety-like behavior elicited by ARS in mice.
