Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is characterized by abnormal neurodevelopmental changes, which result in hyperactivity, impulsivity and inattention, combined with other symptoms. Traditional treatment involves the use of psychostimulant drugs; however, their deleterious effects are the target of criticism, and stimulate the searches for alternatives that reduce the adverse symptoms caused by conventional therapy.
