DOES THE CELLULAR LOCALIZATION OF SULFIREDOXIN HAVE CORRELATION WITH PROSTATE CANCER PROGRESSION?

The antioxidant enzyme sulfiredoxin (Srx) has as its main objective the reduction of hyperoxidized peroxiredoxins. As for the location, the literature refers to a canonical cytoplasmic location, however, some studies on Srx in lung cancer and liver damage found the nuclear presence of Srx, even with this new discovery, no analysis was performed on the effects of the presence of Srx in the nucleus. Recent studies have shown an overexpression of Srx in more advanced stages of prostate cancer (PCa), and a correlation with worse prognosis and shorter survival, but no studies have correlated these effects with Srx cellular localization.
