Resumo

Pseudoisochromatic stimuli are commonly used to assess color vision. These stimuli consist of a mosaic arrangement of individual spots with different luminances, creating a luminance noise in the stimulus. The purpose of this luminance noise is to mask the chromatic difference between a subset of spots and the other elements in the mosaic, thereby creating a visual target to be identified by a normal trichromat observer using only chromatic cues. The random distribution of luminance has a role in eliminating brightness cues between the target and the background of the stimulus. However, no systematic experiments have investigated how the randomness of luminance distribution on chromatic discrimination.
