Resumo

Endotoxemic shock is an infectious syndrome that causes exacerbated inflammatory responses and metabolic abnormalities. Among these, hypoglycemia, characterized by disorders of the gluconeogenesis pathway, is one of the major causes of mortality in septic patients. Recent research has investigated the participation of sympathetic efferent neuroimmune pathways during systemic inflammation. These pathways can be stimulated by several drugs administered centrally, among them, Angiotensin-(1-7). This heptapeptide acts by inhibiting the synthesis of pro-inflammatory cytokines in immune system of the cells, such as macrophages, reducing the signaling of the NF-kβ/TGF-β pathway.
