Abstract

LAPASSION project is an Erasmus + Capacity Building for Higher Education project coordinated by the Instituto Politécnico do Porto and involving 15 partners (5 from Europe and 10 from Latin America). It is a project of pedagogical innovation suitable for the introduction of students of Higher Education in multidisciplinary processes of innovation, to deal with open challenges posed by companies or other external entities and directed to the final users. The project has a budget of around 1 million euros and aims to put 8 sets of projects in 3 Latin American countries (Brazil, Chile and Uruguay).
The first set of projects was held between April and June 2018 in Santiago de Chile (LAPASSION @ santiago) with 39 students (16 from Chile and 23 from Portugal, Spain, Finland, Brazil and Uruguay) from 10 different scientific areas. The open challenge was "How to improve the living conditions of the senior population?". Under this open challenge 6 sub-challenges were launched for 6 multidisciplinary groups of students who presented 3 alternatives each and chose one of these alternatives to detail and implement.
This experience will be developed in more Latin American cities, with challenges of a varied nature. In 2019 we will have the challenges of "How to improve the Human Development Index" in São Luís do Maranhão (Brazil), "Food for the Future" in Uberaba (Brazil) and "How to improve children's living conditions?" in (Uruguay). In 2020 the projects will be held in Manaus, Goiânia and Pelotas (Brazil) and again in Santiago, Chile.
In this Workshop we will start presenting Erasmus+ Capacity Building for HEI Programme and LAPASSION project. Then we will have presentations of the European and Latin America views of LAPASSION, and the description about the finished projects in Chile, and on-going projects in Brazil and Uruguay. Sustainability of the project will be the final part of the Workshop.
