Abstract

This presentation will provide an overview of career planning for international education professionals. It will begin with a self-assessment and a consideration, based on my own research in Canada, of university intentions for the international officer role.
Following that, it will present the elements of a good career plan (ie. mentoring, professional development, reputation enhancement, advancement). It will then provide ideas for participants to develop their own career plan.

This presentation has previously been presented in the US and in Canada, and participants found it useful to spend time together, considering their own career trajectories. Last year I was going to give this session as a workshop, but had to cancel. It can be tailored to fit either as a workshop or a session.
