Physical verification of CFD model from pressure drop in a fluidized bed
The present work provides the physical verification of an Eulerian-Eulerian fluidized bed CFD model by the comparison pressure drop values generated from the model with experimental data from Literature at the minimum fluidization condition to Geldart-types A and B particles. It was performed a theoretical discussion about the fluidization phenomena represented through the simulation by analysis of the volume fraction profiles of the particulate phase. The model could generate pressure drop values with good concordance with experimental results, especially to the Geldart-type A. The calculated volume fraction profiles showed that the model could represent the tendency of particle A to provide a homogeneous bed expansion, and the particle B to form bubbles with lower and heterogeneous bed expansion.
