THERMAL CONVERSION OF ELEPHANT GRASS
The elephant grass has attracted interest as a renewable source of energy. This study reports experiments of the elephant grass pyrolysis in an auger conveyor reactor. The impact of residence time (15, 20 and 33 minutes) and of temperature (400, 500 and 600 °C) on products yield (biochar/biogas/bio-oil) was evaluated. The results show that with the rise of the temperature, the biochar production tends to fall, the production of biogas increase, and the bio-oil stays virtually constant. The biogas showed a higher concentration of syngas (H2+CO) at temperature 600ºC.
