AN INTEGRATED COMPUTATIONAL TOOL FOR CONSEQUENCE ANALYSIS IN THE PROCESS INDUSTRY
Accidents in the chemical industry are always a matter of concern. New technologies have arisen and they are investigated worldwide. Many accidents have occurred in industrial areas. They are responsible for significant loss and impact to the environment. In this context, the present study has been focused on the development of a computational tool combined with the state of the art to calculate the consequences of accidental scenarios as far as gas releases are concerned. The computational tool is integrated with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in order to model fire, explosion and gas dispersion taking into account the most sophisticated technology available. Simulations rely on response surfaces tailored for flammable cloud scenarios and it also considers standard physical consequences models.
