Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate association between changes in quality of life (QoL), and toxicity among women actively undergoing chemotherapy for ovarian cancer. Recruitment began on Oct 2016 and ended on Dec 2018. QoL was assessed with the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy - Ovary (FACT-O) questionnaire1 at baseline, fourth and sixth cycle of chemotherapy (4CC and 6CC, respectively). According to current standards of care, out of the 39 women, 33 (84.6%) completed three questionnaires. There was a slight reduction in the social well-being score however, there was a significant improvement in QoL for other subscales (P<0.05). The worsening of FACT-O subscale was significantly in women with mild/severe neurotoxicity in the 6CC (P=0.0298). Women undergoing neoadjuvant treatment had a better QoL within 6CC on the functional well-being, ovarian concern and FACT-O subscale (P<0.05). Women undergoing chemotherapy, showed improvement in QoL between different subscales, despite worsening of neurotoxicity.
