Guidelines

Abstracts must be submitted in English using the button on the right.➡️

The extension limit is 250 words.

Communication formats available for participating in the SOM 2026 are the follow:

  • Oral communications (15’) presented in regular oral sessions
  • Posters (A0)

When submitting the abstract [in the desired format], authors are required to select two General Topics from the list. The first must be the one with primary relevance to the work. The second, (this option is located at the end of the form), must be a topic with secondary affinity.

The deadline for abstract submission is February 9th, 2026.

  • Carbon sequestration and stabilization mechanisms
  • Greenhouse gas emissions
  • SOM modeling in agricultural and natural ecosystems
  • Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) protocols
  • SOM and soil health Indicators
  • SOM dynamics under the different pedoclimatic environments
  • SOM dynamics in wetlands and dryland ecosystems
  • SOM dynamics in planted, restored and natural ecosystems
  • Best management practices for SOM (cropland, pasture, forestry)
  • SOM as a pillar for soil fertility and nutrient cycling
  • Advanced methodologies for SOM assessment 
  • Origins, composition and functionality of SOM
  • How soil biodiversity shapes organic matter and ecosystem health
  • Humic substances of SOM and organic residues
  • Education and Outreach initiatives on the SOM
  • SOM study cases in the world’s biomes

The scientific committee, depending on the topic and time availability across the program, will determine the form of presentation.

  • Each registered author could present a maximum of one communication as presenting author.

 For communications to be included in the final SOM 2026 program and Abstracts Book, the presenting author must be registered and pay the corresponding registration fee.
