Node and link survivability in communications networks are crucial. One of the more promising techniques are based in pre-configured-cycles p-cycles, they offer a fast recovering of a single link failure. Recently the Failure Independent Path Protection FIPP were researched, they protect a set of disjoint paths and guarantees 100% of the restoration of the traffic point to point; a more thrifty strategy are Flow Pcycles path-segment-protecting-cycles, they provide protection for a segment of the path when is known the exact place where the failure occurs, that causes a not desirable retard. In this work we study the performance of FIPP and Flow Pcycles, considering all feasible paths for each request and all candidate cycles available in the network. The experimental results over distinct topologies and traffic loads using an exhaustive exploration bear out that FIPP protection to end-to-end paths are more expensive than a segmented approach, but FIPP has more share capacity than Flow.
